Today, kilos led a small group of us on a survival trip through the woodlands. We began with general preparation, supply check, a little bit of just-in-case accident supplies like bandages, as we had a young one with us. We began the discussion with the need for clean water to survive, and a strategy of a good way to potentially find water sources. Look for lower elevation land with ample flora and fauna, signs of life and abundance. We began the trip heading north, coming across a wasteland of rock, and high ground, which was not our goal. We continued the search and found an abandoned tent, signs that someone has travelled here before. The group continued to the west, finding more dense plants and quite a few healthy animals, and a farm in the middle of the woodlands! Knowing that a farm takes quite a bit of water, we continued our journey, coming across a sandy beach, but the water was salty! Discussion began on how to create a fire, and ways to hold water to boil-off the water and separate the salt from the fresh water. The lesson today was informative, and I look forward to future trips. -Inscript | |
