The Kingdom of Zeal, that is where my life began.  My parents were the king and queen of Zeal.  The kingdom itself was located on an island far to the northeast.  The citizens of Zeal were all adept in the usage of magic.  Many have speculated exactly why the people of Zeal displayed such prowess in the arcane arts.  As far back as the history of Zeal has been recorded, its inhabitants have possessed a natural mastery of arcana.  Some say it is because the island is directly above a "Dragon Vein", amplifying the Chi flow within the people.  Others believe it is due to the mysterious stones that have been found in the region that give off magical properties.

None have been able to prove exactly why the people of Zeal display such a great potential in the Arcane arts.  Nevertheless, magic is very much a core principle in Zeal.  Machines and devices were created that took advantage of the unusually high magic concentration of the Kingdom.  Teleportation devices were one of the kingdom's most common commodities.  Every town, village, or area of interest had several of these for ease of access.  You could say the people of Zeal took magic for granted, as it was very much a common thing.  Although everyone in Zeal possessed at least a basic mastery of magic, to say they were equally skilled would be foolish.

Those of the royal bloodline of Zeal possessed an extraordinary talent in arcane magic, especially the darker arts.  The members of Zeal's royal bloodline were believed to be among the most powerful sorcerors in the entire world.  The royal family had two special stones that were kept strictly within their family: The Sunstone and The Dreamstone.

There are no official records of where the Sunstone originated from, but it is common legend that the first King of Zeal was able to summon a meteor from the Sun that would lend him its power.  The Sunstone was kept in a special keep called The Sanctum of the Sun.  The Sanctum was majestically built, rising high into the sky above any other structure.  The chamber of the Sunstone was located at the very top of the Sanctum and was specifically built to channel sunlight onto the Sunstone, and the only way to reach the room was through a teleportation device located in the Royal chambers of the palace.  The Sunstone absorbed the sunlight and would glow a vibrant yellow color when it had absorbed much energy.  However, if it was taken out of the sunlight, its color would slowly fade, eventually looking like an ordinary stone.  The Sunstone would amplify the magical power of whoever possessed it, the degree of the power depending on how much energy the Sunstone had absorbed.

The Dreamstone was not kept in a keep like the Sunstone, but always stayed in the possession of the Queen of Zeal.  It was a small, round, red-colored jewel that the Queen wore as a pendant.  Like the Sunstone, the Dreamstone possessed a degree of magic-amplifying powers, albeit not to as great a degree as the Sunstone.  The Dreamstone was unique in that there were certain seals that only it could open.  It was said that the Dreamstone was retrieved from the realm our spirits drift to when we dream by the first King of Zeal, and that it "feeds" off of the dreams of its owner.  If the dreams are full of light and happines, the Dreamstone will turn a rich and deep crimson color, but if the dreams are full of darkness and sorrow, it will turn a darker pink-like color.

The members of the royal bloodline of Zeal were always searching for ways to increase their magical power.  However, none had ever taken their search to the extreme that my parents did.  Their search for more power consumed them; it became the focal point of their life.  It was not unusual for them not to be seen for weeks, embarking on journeys to find ancient tomes, searching for any way to bring them more power.  It was during one such journey that the fate of Zeal was altered forever.
