From early on as a boy I grew up around the wilderness. One of the best ways to survive was to know where and what items and creatures were foragable. Trees were a given, but you can always rely on having enough around to provide the necessities to live. You have to come up with alternatives and sometimes it has to be quick. Shelter is one important factor of survival, but not THE most important. You can be well covered but still starve. Knowing what wildlife is in the area can mean the difference between life and death sometimes. Finding the proper materials to cook said wildlife is also important. You dont always have what you need when you need it if you know what I mean. You can try to be prepared, but if you are skilled enough at foraging you are ALWAYS prepared. Fresh drinking water is a must when out and about. Maps dont always show the best locations to get drinkable water, so you have to be ready to find ways to filter or boil it. Clean water helps prevent disease. Lots of things wander in and out of most water sources in the wilderness and you dont wanna put just any water in your mouth without taking proper measures. Once you learn how to forage properly you are ready to journey and explore with far less worry than your average traveler. I think I am a Master Forager having been guided by some of the best. I seek out knowledge and seemingly drink it up. The wilderness is ours to explore. Be sure YOU are prepared. Kounted | |
