A few Suns ago, I was at Pond's Library, looking for books and scrolls about mythic animals and their behaviors as part of my research. As I moved closer to the back of the library, I felt the presence of someone. I peeked through a shelf, taking a glimpse of the person. A man, who looked quite distressed and tired, was sitting next to a pile of books. To not interfere with his study, I turned around to walk away. However, as soon as I took the first step, I heard a big sigh coming from where the man was sitting. I turned back and approached him. Only then did I know it was Tes Twise, the son of one of the best scribes, Mos Twise. I asked, "Tes, are you okay? Is something troubling you?" Tes looked up and said, "Hello, Porca. I'm glad you are here. I am very concerned about the scribe exam I will be taking in 2 Suns". Pointing at the pile of books next to him, he said, "I've read all these books three times already, but I do not know if I am ready to take the exam yet. I am quite tired, but I can't just rest and not make the last effort to study a bit more. Can you give me some advice?" It is then when I offered revelation of his future through I-Ching. I took out three coins from my pocket and briefly explained how it is done. I then tossed the coins six times, taking note of each coin combinations showing Yins and Yangs. The present reading came out as Heaven over Mountain, Tun. Tun, meaning retreating, called for strategic withdrawal. I then adjusted changing lines of trigrams for the future reading, noticing Earth over Wind Trigrams. This represents Sheng meaning growth and progression. I explained to Tes what the readings were and what they meant. I, then, told him, looking at Hun hexagram, "Often, it may be good to expect and prepare for the worst. However, preparing for the worst could very well be costly and exhausting. You've prepared yourself for the exam enough. It is time for you to withdraw from studying and take rest to recover your energy." I then pointed at the second hexagram reading. "This one is good. Be at ease as you will soon see the progress that you have been preparing for. You will see growth in your career and fortune. Expect to bear the fruit you've been waiting for." I saw a relief in Tes's eyes. "Thank you, Porca. I really needed to hear that. Even better coming from a diviner." He stood up and started cleaning the books. "I will go now and rest to replenish energy in preparation for the exam." - Porca | |
