<b>        When Rocks Pick Your Outfit
         (An Ogham Reading)

Today I asked the ogham stones
    what color I should wear.
Harrier sighed and rubbed his face,
and gave a long, hard stare.

He tossed the runes into the skies,
I watched as they flew by.
They wobbled once, they wobbled twice,
(One hit me in the eye!)

He scratched his head, he squinted hard,
    then muttered, "Bright and bold!"
"The runes declare, with mighty weight:
     Pick red, or maybe gold!"

"Pick something loud," the runes advised,
"that makes you feel all free!"
    (Which sounded quite suspiciously
    like something I'd decree.)

I nodded once, as if impressed,
    with murmurs spun from lore;
but truth be told, I must confess,
    I've heard it all before.

But oh! - I had a second thought,
    a deep and solemn plea:
"How long must I parade about
    in blazing finery?"

The runes rolled left, the runes rolled right,
    and landed nice and neat:
    "Until it fails to excite,
    or clothes start to repeat."

Thus have the runes, once and again,
    declared their ancient art:
"Just wear whatever makes you grin,
    and follow your mad heart."
