It may seem strange for a Merchant to seek something that cannot be bought or traded. And yet, serenity in the Tao is more valuable than any gem I've cut or came acrossed, and more elusive than any trades I've chased. The Tao is always present?it whispers beneath the noise of markets and in the stillness between footsteps of people coming and going at Merchant Midnight Madness. But to truly see it requires a different kind of vision?one that isn't shaped by profit or loss, but by presence. As a Merchant, I've chased many things-?but now I seek serenity in the Tao, which isn't something to be gained, but something to remember. It's the natural rhythm behind all things, including trade, movement, and change. To find serenity in the Tao would be to release my grip on outcomes?to let the world be as it is, without grasping or resisting. I wouldn't need to fix every imbalance, or question every ethical or unethical trades. I would simply move in rhythm with what is, without fear of what was or what might come. It would mean trading urgency for understanding, and ambition for alignment. That, to me, is a wealth worth seeking. My journey has taken me to many corners of the kingdom?from silent barren field in wilderness to crowded events like MMM. I've bartered for coveted items, I've failed, I've witnessed gain and decay alike. But the real expedition was inward. And there, in the stillest part of myself, I began to sense the Tao;not as an answer, but as a rhythm I had forgotten how to follow. I now seek not complexity, but quiet alignment with the way. That's where I find true value. Hyul 151 Fall, Splurge Goldsworth | |
