The gentle hind--Eilid, draws me as the light of dawn does bid us to rise from dreams. Not merely a symbol of grace or gentleness. She holds many other things within. Who has not seen the playful doe with fawns as they stray in the fields as mists curl at evening. There is a certain kind of grace to long limbs in exultant play with their children. She gracefully wanders with little rush or care for the rhythms of men. The time of the wilds is not that of our busy human days. The subtle beauty of this confidence and sure-footed life is one we can all learn from. Blending not just with a list of things to do, but hearkening to the rhythms of our own seasons both within & without. Perhaps the doe's gentle beauty comes from these things too. The light heart and bright spirit that leaps freely through forest & fen. I know that the doe's wide eyes hold many mysteries and I can only hope to understand a few. These creatures guide my heart & mind to further insights and a wish to bring others some gentle grace if I may humbly do so. | |
