Arriving at my isolated destination, I removed my outer clothing, folded them neatly and set them back from the water. I took a deep cleansing breath and stepped into the clean, clear cold water. My breath caught in my chest, gooseflesh erupted all over my skin and a light laugh escaped me. I quickly sat down, trying to relax as the water rushed around me. I let my lower half float out from under me. With my left arm hooked around one of the many odd shaped stones. I floated free, my head back, nearly under the water. All I could hear was the soft murmur of the water as it caressed its way around and over me. I was at peace.
Having lain there for quite some time, I opened my eyes. The world looked different from this perspective. The high billowing clouds moving lazily across the bright blue sky. The underside of the tree leaves waving to the world. They reminded me of children hands, so fragile, so full of life, so needing protection. My right hand, under water, felt the smooth roundness of the stones under me. A stark contrast to the jagged stones standing tall out of the water. I noticed through an opening of the stones, a small furry creature chewing happily on a bright green blade of grass. The little rabbit stopped its chewing and wiggled its nose at me, twitching its ears as if motioning hello. I smiled a toothy smile, closed my eyes once more, letting the serene isolation wash over me.
I think I may have dozed off, not a healthy thing to do while floating in water, my eyes shot open and I quickly set up, the coursing around my chest. I heard someone talking! I frantically searched around me, I saw no one. I noticed the leaves moving as though a breeze was blowing them. I felt no breeze, there was no reason for them to be moving. I slowly laid back in the water, my eyes watching the trees.
There! I heard the voice again, it was faint but it was there. I strained to listen, trying to understand what the low mumbling was saying. I again closed my eyes, relaxed, the voice became clearer. I could only make out a few words, boy, wet, kind. One of things I had always wanted, wishing to hear was now within my grasp. I may have cried a few happy tears. I have had two wished come true. I lay in the water, relaxed and listened to the banter. I could make out different voice tones, but the actual words I couldn't make out. I knew understanding would come with time. And time is what I have to give.
