Today while taking a stroll though the kingdoms I decided to take a break and relax by a river. As I went to sit down, I noticed a man fishing nearby. I nodded to him and made introductions. Found out the man's name was Kwak and that he is almost always out there and happily shares his fishing gear for a charge. I paid him for a pole, line and bait and sat next to him. After a while of no bites on the line, I decided to strike up a conversation with Kwak. Started off with pleasantries like weather and how his day was. He replied good to both and we had a long silence between the two of us. He broke it by while tossing a blue gem in the air and catching it and asked "Do you think I'll every catch a fabled Flameblade? I have only heard of the myth and haven't ever seen anyone who has actually caught one." I replied simply lend me that gem you're tossing around and let's see what your future holds. Just maybe ill see a flameblade in it". He handed over the gem and I stared into it trying to see every detail. It was a small chunk of quartz tinted blue with several cracks running through out it. I gazed into to tuning it this way and that I found a darker hue of blue inside, and at a certain angle I could not recreate I saw the flowing shape of a river with a string coming out of it and nothing but fire on the end. I then said to Kwak "it does seem you are destined to get a flamblade but alas I cannot tell when or where, or even if you will be the one to catch it, just that you will be close to see this legend come true." I handed the crystal back and after another long silence. He nodded and said with finality "That will be enough". I handed the pole back and went on my way. Xanthus | |
