Wanting to know more about the world around me, I took Quotah up on her offer to lead a guided scouting trip throught the Islets. And am I ever glad I did. She taught our group so many skills during our adventure out into the wild. I'm positive that the tools she has given me today will help me survive when venturing out on my own. Perhaps one of the most important things she showed me was how to ensure that I had clean drinking water. I had typically kept a bottle of root liquor with me to satisfy myself, but what would become of me if I were ever stranded or lost? Quotah taught us about the effects of boiling water for 3-5 minutes to ensure that anything that may be in the water, would be cleansed from boiling. Making the water safe for our consumption. One of the many other skills she spoke about was Camouflage. Explaining that sometimes its not just about hiding ourselves visually, but to be able to blend in to observe the world around us, as if we were'nt there. To see nature as it truly is. What really suprised me the most about today, was when we began to use what nature had provided us with to create shelters and weapons to defend ourselves. As a magic user, I rarely use weapons. So the thought of crafting a bow out of wood, stone and plant fibers to be able to defend myself has never really crossed my mind. It was a trip I won't soon forget. The skills that Quotah has supplied to me will ensure that I'll be able to survive in the wild... well at least until she can come rescue me! ~ DiZhu Xipo | |
