Trigram: Thunder Thunder- the loud boom that proceeds lightning but precedes rain. The I Ching denotes the thunder trigram as a sudden force, an arousing power... just like water. Water can flood and destroy in an instant, anyone who has witnessed a flood can tell you so. Just like water they can both be unpredictable. The Shu Jing states that water can be a harbinger of both destruction and renewal, this is parallel to the attributes of Thunder. Obsidian is my item of choice. To those unaware of how obsidian is made, it is formed when lava is quickly cooled forming glass. It is the product of a brilliant clash of nature, of cool water and hot lava, created from their union. Obsidian is known for its protection for absorbing negativity, just as water is known for absorbing and cleansing. Obsidian is also known for self awareness and introspection, traits that are akin to the water alignment. | |
