Oh it's *really* bad, and just as you say it feels doubly bad because it so fiercely promotes sinking so much into Kruna to keep this exploitative reigeme up. Tempting as it is to blame the practicioners, it's not their fault that this is how the gods have decided the progression ought to work. It's not just a matter of outright preventing undermark sacrificing - though that would be a start. That still leaves us in this nasty situation where choosing to get bigger significantly penalizes your experience income - which is never going to not cause problems while envelopes exist. It's far from the only issue caused by the modern ATG tiers. As you point out, warriors never leverage their full strength in ATG until they reach the upper end of cave8. The combination of cutting your stats by 50/75% while still allowing higher marked ingresses and weapons into lower caves mean vital attacks are almost inconsequential for most of a warrior's lifetime. This in itself already isn't fun - vital attacks are the most active part of a warrior's work, and having them rendered insignificant is deeply dissatisfying. It further stretches the already laughably egregious gap between NPC and PC warriors. Combined with low health swarms, it massively boosts the importance of polearm range. This has meant what was once intended as a mild upgrade in the flamespear is now a gigantic force amplifier with a miserably exclusive pricetag. With vital attacks representing such little experience, healing capacity is no longer a factor. This encourages poets to party with warriors massively ahead of themselves, as healing isn't an obstacle - the poet need only wander around scourging. Again, this is unengaging in itself, but also makes a real mess of poet:warrior ratios. With poets earning experience on par with a warrior two marks above them, poet playtime to reach a given size is much less than warrior playtime is going to be. If you consider that all those warrior play hours still require poets, if they're not to be forced to solo, you can quickly see the issue with this gap. It's a really bad situation, guys. These are nuanced problems that really hurt the kingdom - you're simply not going to fix them through distanced trial and error. We need some critical thinking, detailed investigation, and most of all, earnest cooperation. | |
