This is becoming a regular little thing, writing on the Community board answering questions, it seems, and I'm all for it! So, today, I've had 4-5 people reach out asking about the F9 function and harassment laws. Let me answer a few frequent inquiries: When should I use F9? The F9/"Ignore" function of the game is for when you wish to completely cease all contact with another player. Note that I say player, not character. It also acts as a sort of "agreement" that you will also be ceasing all forms of contact. Think of it like an analog of a restraining order. What does F9 cover/how do I go about it? When you use the F9 function to ignore a player, also add all characters you know to be associated with that person. (Don't go asking around about their alts, that's an infringement of Law 199.) ->Take a screenshot of informing the person they are F9'd and their reaction for your records, as the last thing said to them. This can be done via whisper or n-mail as long as there's record, preferrably with the day/time with your notice. If you are unsure/not confident, a Justice Team memmber can provide a standard notice. Also on your end, remember this is effectively a two-way arrangement: neither of you will be acknowledging each other's existence in any form. The F9 means it's done and over. Do not seek to goad the individual you have F9'd. Help, I'm F9'd, what do I do? Go about your business and leave that person alone, period. If there is some extenuating circumstance where you feel you absolutely must contact the person, confer with a member of the Justice Team before you do anything. I assure you though, reasons for this are extremely rare (and never happen). Where do harassment laws come in? Harassment laws come into play when someone seeks to bypass the F9 function after being made aware they are F9'd. This includes but is not limited to using alts to contact the person who performed the F9, contacting the person's alts, n-mailing them, World Shouting/Saging, and other creative means not listed here. (And just because it's not listed here doesn't mean it won't count as harassment if the intent is proved.) Using proxies, such as someone's friends, to try to contact the person can also be considered harassment, so we encourage the F9'd person to not do so, though cases of this are reviewed individually. Harassment is a punishable offense in the legal system of the Kingdoms, and can land you in hot water. So, if someone has notified you that you're being put on their F9 list, take the hint and move on. How do I pursue a harassment case? In order to successfully pursue a harassment case, the person filing the case must be able to provide screenshots documenting the original F9 notice, (again, timestamp is preferrable for ease of the process) as well as all the attempts of bypassing the F9 function taking place. The issue can either be posted on the Justice board, or delivered to a member of the Justice Team via whispers/n-mails. The Justice Team will ask for and review the screenshots and deliver a verdict accordingly. Want more questions answered?
