Subject :Clan Event Marks for Ee Culture
Date :9/18

This suggestion is for allowing clan event marks as an ee culture avenue.

I have some beliefs about the mark trials -
Good mark trials should be one of the following:

- A fun or interesting gameplay challenge
- A reason to engage with parts of the game you might ignore
- Something with positive externalities on the game

Ee culture was originally 2 and 3 - encourage people to try crafting, and help add demand for the crafting material market, giving players more value from gathering.  While we had the writing contests, it was a reason to engage with the creative writing aspect of community events.

None of these are really valid anymore.
Crafting is a fruitless money pit with no utility.

Adding value to daily coins is not a positive externality imo.

* They already have and had value.  Ee didn't even really move the dial when the change came in.

* Coin collection is so tedious that the real externality here is just to encourage multiple accounts and considerable botting for coin collection.

(I am *hoping* that this is not seen as a positive.)

* Keeping this gigantic gold hurdle at such an early stage of the game in such a botched economy encourages new players to either
a) buy gold, legally or otherwise
b) quit.

(Again, I really want to think that this is not desirable.)

For wealthy players who do just want to pay their way through, leave it.  Heck, make it an actual gold sink instead, that would probably be more useful.

The current trial *sucks*.

So, consider adding a clan event mark route to Ee culture.

We can turn this trial into all of 1 2 and 3 - fun, encouraging engagement in things with limited existing incentive, and positive for the community by encouraging communal play and interaction.

* Increased incentive to actually host and attend events, helping to keep the kingdoms vibrant and thriving

* Adding an incentive to clan event marks makes it easier to host events without having to pay extortionate amounts of winnings

* Actually representative of the trial theme, "Culture"

* Improving the "payout" for having fun is always a good idea for player satisfaction

* Allows a real avenue for advancement for new players without having to buy gold

* Extra incentive for new players to try to participate in community events

I know what you're already saying - people will abuse this and host tiny events at weird hours just for their buddies.  I'm going to tell you it's fine.  Prioritize participation over winning, make it clear that abuse isn't allowed.  And, to be honest?  If people come up with a scheme to catch a sneaky mark somehow here and there?  It really doesn't matter.  They're just cheating themselves out of fun.

The thing is, Ee san is not a precious mark. A new player hunting normally will hit ee-san after a month or two.  It REALLY doesn't need to be the insurmountable roadblock it currently is.  Similarly, we don't need to be precious with clan event marks.

I know this would take a modocom of belief in our community, but do consider trusting me on this one.  This single change would make a *world* of difference.

(The actual implementation should be a points-based system, x points for participation, *marginally* more points for a win, and the opportunity to pay daily coins or gold to make up the shortfall from the points target so it's not an all-or-nothing approach.)
