The ee and sam slog's are effectively equivalent in dps to the etched spear, it's just a tradeoff of time/effort versus the AC penalty. The il etched spear is meaningfully better than the club. If you just continued this trend, a sa club wouldn't be 'better' than a sa etched spear. Notably the flamespear is defined as a rigid 7-8% higher damage than the etched spear at all ranks, so there's nothing special about sa in this regard. (Notably this is why the 99 flamespear is so awful, it's because the 99 etched spear on which it's based is also awful.) I'm entirely in favour of a new weapon that shrinks the distance to the flamespear, much as the mc'D did for the diadem, and I've been arguing for this for ages. To fill that niche, though, I think it does need to be a polearm, so pushing the club into that role wouldn't be my preference. | |
