I would love to have the writing contests back, and there are definitely advantages to the officially managed contests - but I'm not sure it's realistic unless an existing archon wants to volunteer to manage the judging again. Given that it's unlikely to be a culture route again, maybe the option's there to manage it ourselves? With less of a gameplay-critical incentive there's less reason to bother cheating. We're not obliged to run them nearly as often if we're not handing out culture marks, so judging volume would be easier to manage. It would be cute if we could get some new rewards for such a thing. Carnage style cosmetics? A dye? Some unique community-quest-style gimmick behind x wins? Anything that would help maintain steady interest beyond a mark. As usual sustainable incentives are one of the harder parts. | |
