I ran as fast as I can to the Knight Parlor. The sun already
rises for one hour. I was late. It was my first day as a Town
Guard. I saw a pair of eyes looking at me.

"You are late!!" He said in a rough and loud voice. The captain
put his hands on his waist. He's well known in our town.
Everyone hails him as a hero. Even the neighboring town was
proud of him.

"Private Cho reporting to duty!" I said in a loud voice. He
glared at me as I saluted him.

"Gear up! Corporal Sun, teach him our way!" He pointed to a big
guy who stand near the door.

"Yes sir!" the man replied. His name was Sun. He started to
become a Town Guard 4 years ago.

He gave me a good armor and also a long spear. I geared up and
followed him outside.

As a town guard, basically I just need to protect our town.
There are 4 main jobs for us. The most basic one is Town
Patrol. Their job is to maintain security inside our town. The
second is Gate Keeper. Their job is to guard the gate, to make
sure that no bad guys enter our town, or maybe some beast. The
third is Border Patrol. Their job is to patrol on the
perimeter, and slay any beast that could do harm to our
villages. The last one is Castle Guard. Well, they just stay in
front of the Castle Gate, and that's it. But people rank them
highly because they're close to the Kingdom.

Corporal Sun took me to the gate. He introduced me to how the
gate works, how to open and close the gate. He asked me to try
to open and close the gate. I had to turn a big lever to open
and close the gate. It was really heavy! Then he introduced me
to the Gate Keeper. They work in shift, they rotate for every 6
hours.

"Let's move out. You are going to work on the field today."
Corporate Sun left the town, I had no choice but to follow him.

He rook me to a watch tower not so far from town gate. There
were 10 other people in the watch tower. They were the Border
Patrol. Corporate Sun introduced me to the Guard Leader, and
left.

The Guard Leader told me what our job is. We need to help our
villagers who had trouble on the field. There were a lot of
wolves, some bear sightings, and ferocious tiger. It might
sound easy, but it's definitely not.

He told me to patrol on the northern side of the watch tower,
because it's the merchant route and they will need some help. I
went to patrol with a man named Ji. He was a new Town Guard
too, just like me. Both of us walked towards the designated
area.

The road was bumpy. There were a lot of rocks on the road. And
the road was quite lively. There were a lot of merchants going
in and out the town by horse. Most of them only brought some
small bags with them.

Suddenly a cracking sound was heard. There was a carriage that
bring a lot of goods, losing it's wheel. Some of the goods fell
on the field, and the wheel just rolled away and hit a big
rock. We helped the owner of the carriage to secure his goods,
and put the loosen wheel to the carriage. He thanked us for our
works, and went to the town. I felt so proud because I was able
to help a person in need.

We continued patroling on the border, found some small issues
such as theft, wolves attack, and some small fights. It was
hard, but it was worth it. We were able to keep the peace.

After 6 hours, we went back to the watch tower to report our
duty. The Guard Leader thanked us for our works, then we went
back to our own home.

As I reached my home, I see my parents were waiting for me
outside. I told them my experience guarding our town during
dinner, and they were proud of me. I was so happy that I can
make my parents proud, and also become one of the Town Guard.

When the night fall, I prayed to the God, thanking for
everything that happened that day. I was so excited to see what
the next day will bring. I will always protect our town, our
home. To bring peace, to bring happiness.
