The Chung Ryong Circle

It was an early morning in Dae Shore.  The sun was rising on the ocean horizon and the waves crashed against the shore and sprayed into the beach.  The winds were strong that day blowing fiercely inland on a small group that was walking along the shores on that day.

Blue robes shrouded the bodies and faces of the group as they walked along the coastline.  The group met on the beach every year in the same spot.  When the group reached a large rock on the beach that had been dyed blue, they stopped and gathered in a circle.  As the gathering began, one of the members facing the ocean noticed something on the horizon approaching rapidly.  A ship approached and the peaceful group prepared to greet the visitors.

The ship rammed vigorously into the shore and shook the ground beneath the gathering's feet.  A member of the gathering approached the ship to prepare for a greeting.  It was at this point a tattered young lad leaned his head over the front of the ship looking down on the gathering.  The lad mad an odd face and went out of sight.  After puzzling the gathering's greeter for a moment, the lad swung down from the ship on a rope.

The boy then approached the greeter and the greeter extended his arm to the young man.  The tattered young man, reached for the greeter's hand, and grasped it firmly.  The young man pulled the greeter to his body and a knife went through the greeter.  The greeter fell in pain with a look of shock.

The boy looked at the rest of the gathering's members, as the group pulled out their glorious scales.  The three members were ready to exact revenge on the young man, but before they could begin to strike thirty other men jumped off the ship to defend the lawless boy.  They were the pirates.

The pirates rushed the group.  The scales of the group were long enough to strike the first attackers.  The second attackers came at them while they were removing their sword from the bodies, and the group had to defend themselves with their shields, without yet being able to attack.  The third round of attackers came in swiftly behind the second round and when the group finally could draw their scales to attack the second round, the third round swiped a blow at the back of the group's knees, and as the group fell down, their scales remained in their hands.

All was lost for the group on Dae Shore, but they could not let the kingdoms be seiged by these lawless fools, they could not give up.  The pirates started gathering themselves around the near motionless bodies of the group.  The group members managed to stay alive just long enough to start a chant.  As the pirates finished laying their swords into the bodies of the group members, they were already dead and a blue glow started to rise from the large blue rock in the beach.

The pirates were confused and had never seen such a strange light.  The light began to grow larger, getting even brighter.  A loud roar sounded through the shore as smoke exploded from the light in all directions.  As the smoked faded, a fierce blue dragon lay snarling at the pirates.  The group members, known as the Chung Ryong Circle managed to sacrifice their bodies to summon the great Chung Ryong.

To this day, the pirate ship that attacked that day is left as a memorial to those who lost their lives to protect the kingdoms that day.  The ship is also a warning to all those pirates who may attack, that they should face the same fate as those before them.
